GROW TO EAT

Sat 7th March
10:30 -2:30pm

£40

Producing your own vegetables, herbs and fruit is a great way to get into gardening or to expand the range of your growing. This workshop, held indoors, will cover the basics of working out what will thrive in your garden - however big or small - improving your soil, choosing what crops to grow, the yearly cycle of making new plants, growing them on, harvesting and storing, and planning for the next year. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and explore the topic.

Please bring with you: Any plans/rough outline you might have of the area where you plan to grow vegetables/fruit. If you haven’t already analysed your soil texture and pH, bring a sample of soil from your garden - about half a jam-jar full, taken from at least 20cm below the surface.

Our tutor is a garden designer and horticulturist and a keen grower of fruit and vegetables in her own garden, as well as an experienced teacher. She won a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal for her Long Border at the 2018 RHS Chatsworth Flower Show

HOW TO WRITE THAT NOVEL

A day workshop with writer Mark Connors focusing on how to plan and start writing a novel. We will look at character, plot and setting via selected texts and put pen to paper with writing exercises to help formulate ideas or expand on ideas you may already have. The aim of this workshop is to get our first chapters up and running.

And the really tricky bit – to keep going. We will also look at how not to write our novels to avoid the trapdoors that many first time novelists fall through.

There will also be a Q & A session with the course tutor, a published and critically acclaimed novelist, where participants can ask about all aspects of writing a novel, seeking publication and beyond.

This course is designed for both aspiring novelists and those who’ve never managed to complete their ambitious projects.

Just bring a notebook and pen!!
