INTRODUCTION TO STAINED GLASS

Saturday 7th Septenber

Join local glass artist Kerry Burgoyne for a relaxed, fun and informal day, making your own glass terrarium/dish using the foiling method. You will learn how to cut and shape the glass and how to prepare it for copper foiling. The skills learnt on this workshops are transferable to make lots of other stained glass products once you have the know how.

Note: This course involves working with lead solder, and for safety reasons
we recommend that pregnant women do not attend.

Please wear old clothes and closed-toed shoes and tie back long hair.

PLAY WITH CLAY - FOOD PLATTER / CHEESE BOARD

Saturday 14th September
10.30 - 12.30pm

This workshop is perfect for beginners, using Stoneware clay we will roll and
shape the slab to create your food platter. Using a range of different tools and
materials to create texture and design on the platter. Your food platter will be taken away to be fired and finished in a clear glaze to make it food safe. Your piece will be ready to collect within two weeks of the workshop.

This workshop is pitched at beginners and is run by our head barista Ged. Whether you want to understand a little more about how coffee is made or how to get the most out of your machine at home, we will take you through the basics.

Within the 2 hour workshop you will understand how to grind coffee, make key drinks on the menu, steam and foam milk as well as having a go at trying to master latte art.

JEWELLERY MAKING – SILVER EARRINGS

INTRODUCTION TO PLANTING DESIGN

The workshop held indoors, will cover an introduction to plants and what they
need, how to work out which plants will thrive in your garden and key
principles of planting design. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask
questions and to work on planting design for your own garden.
It's an ideal follow-on to 'Design Your Own Garden 1: Design Principles and
Layout’ short course.

Our tutor is a garden designer and horticulturist as well as an experienced
teacher. She won a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal for her Long
Border at the 2018 RHS Chatsworth Flower Show

GROW TO EAT WORKSHOP

Producing your own vegetables, herbs and fruit is a great way to get into gardening or to expand the range of your growing.

This workshop, held indoors, will cover the basics of working out what will thrive in your garden - however big or small - improving your soil, choosing what crops to grow, the yearly cycle of making new plants, growing them on, harvesting and storing, and planning for the next year. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and explore the topic.

STITCH AND MAKE - KIMONO

Saturday 12th October 10:30 -4:30pm

You will start by learning the art of pattern drafting, constructing a pattern to your own or someone else’s measurements. From here you will cut and learn how to make up your Kimono. Instructions will also be provided.

Note this workshop is ideal for those who have basic sewing skills, i.e. can thread a machine and sew in a straight line. If you are a complete beginner please sign onto a 6 week sewing class, where you can learn how to use a machine and make this garment over a longer period of time.

Fabric provided is polyester satin. If you wish to fetch your own please bring 3m of your prefered material

‘Waxing Lyrical about Cold Wax’ – an exciting workshop exploring the possibilities of cold wax medium and oil paint. Do you fancy trying a fun, versatile medium which can breathe new life into your work?

WEAVE YOUR OWN CHUNKY SCARF USING A PEG LOOM

Spend the day weaving your very own bespoke chunky scarf. You will design and make your scarf, selecting from a large range of different yarns both natural and manmade and from many colours and textures.

You will be given support and guidance throughout the workshop from how to warp up your peg loom, to suggestions of how you can combine and incorporate different colours and textures as well as shown different techniques you may like to experiment using within your work.

You will leave with the skills to weave on a peg loom as well as your own handmade chunky scarf ready for Winter.

CHRISTMAS TEA CUP CANDLE

Create your own poured candles using natural soy wax and essential oils in vintage teacups. We'll be making cinnamon bun and spice cake scents that are perfect for the lead up to Christmas and would make great gifts.

You'll learn about blending essential oils, what wicks and wax work best, how to colour your candles and lots of tips on how to continue creating candles at home.

All ingredients for the candles are kind on the lungs and suitable for people with asthma and other respiratory conditons that shop bought candles can create problems for.
